Finding Solutions.
The building was arranged around an open courtyard and we were tasked with finding a solution to provide additional bedrooms, as well as an improved kitchen / dining area.
Creating Visual Interest and Animation.
We worked closely with the clients to create a single volume, first floor extension, running perpendicular to the existing building. This enabled the extension to cantilever on both sides, creating visual interest and animation. The existing house was rendered white with the extension rendered black, which breaks-up the mass of the building when set against the background of the trees on the site.
Wow Factor!
The bedrooms were located within the first floor enabling the ground floor rooms to be opened-up, with the kitchen over looking the swimming pool for the added wow factor!
